It all starts one morning when I want to pilot the pool filling, even remotely. I receive the Connected valve L14 from We. Quickly, I unpacks the package, I analyse each technical detail, then Iintegrates the valve in Zigbee2MQTT and Home Assistant. Then I realize a real flow meter audit (you will see, the history of the gallons is worth a visit!).
Finally, I make a Lovelace Card ready to use, then I take stock after several watering sessions and a complete filling of the pool.
In this article, I share all the steps to domotise my mailbox and easily track the receipt of mail or parcels, from the first set-ups to the latest developments. My aim is to explain to you step by step, in a simple and detailed way, how I have modernised the monitoring of my mailbox to receive accurate notifications, use appropriate sensors and automate the management of arrivals and withdrawals of mail.
Whether you want to reproduce all or part of this project, or simply take inspiration from certain solutions, I detail each step, each technical choice, and I illustrate all the steps with photos and configuration extracts. I also explain the mistakes to avoid and the possible alternatives so that even a beginner can successfully domotise their mailbox.
This is how I went from a simple installation to a complete, reliable and connected solution, adapted to today’s needs.
The technical sheet indicates the model ZSS-KB-TH-LF-C-MS. On the cardboard, it is written in tiny and almost illegible, but on the back of the sensor, the model is perfectly visible:
Good surprise: the battery is included. So I can test the sensor immediately, without having to buy a specific model. The supplied battery is new, protected by a tab.
Installation is very simple: the sensor stands, sits on a piece of furniture or sticks to the wall with the supplied double-sided (or not depending on the batch). I have nothing to break through: it is clean and reversible.
On the cardboard, it is impossible to read the reference – they dared gray on gray gradient! It is unreadable, so I advise you to check the model on the seller’s website before purchasing.
Fortunately, on the back of the case, the reference is clearly legible. Checking the information on the product received is essential to ensure that it matches the order.
Good news: the battery is included, allowing the sensor to be tested immediately without any additional purchase. The battery is new, protected by a tongue.
I need to monitor the water level of my buried tank. So I chose the Zigbee ultrasonic level sensor ME201WZ Moray 's. This small device measures the distance by ultrasound and accurately indicates the level of the liquid remaining in the tank. What I appreciate right away: simple installation, robustness, minimal maintenance, and above all a mains power supply (I no longer have to manage batteries).
Originally, this sensor was designed for the Tuya Smart/Smart Life application, but I prefer to integrate it into Zigbee2MQTT to keep full control of my home automation equipment.
The CR2450 battery is present in the box, it is announced for 4 years of battery life! (to be confirmed over time of course). It is new and protected by a tongue.
