🔍 I check the received model

The package suffered a bit during transport, but everything is in perfect condition inside. I ordered the 228WZ.
Where to buy this equipment?
Here is the link to the page dedicated to 228WZ. I referenced the sellers and prices.
📦 Product Description
This smoke detector measures 9 cm in diameter, it comes with a removable bracket to screw to the ceiling. A set of screws is provided, nothing special to provide for fixing.

🔋 I add batteries (not included)
The sensor works with two AAA batteries, to be installed before any manipulation.

Small tip: Remember to put new batteries to test the reliability of the module from the beginning.
🔗 I integrate the detector with Zigbee2MQTT
I put Zigbee2MQTT in pairing mode when inserting batteries, but no pairing starts on its own (this is common on this type of product). I then press 5 seconds on the button opposite the LED, the LED flashes blue, the pairing starts. In a few seconds, the module is integrated!

The detector is well recognized as a 228WZ and the photo displayed in Zigbee2MQTT corresponds to the actual module. The essential information (state, battery, alert) is well documented.

Please note: there are no specific configuration parameters to be set.
🖊 I rename the detector
Always remember to give your detectors an explicit name, especially if you have several installed.

🏠 I find the detector in Home Assistant
I open Home Assistant, and there the detector is already integrated. Sensor status, battery and smoke alert are displayed immediately. Ultra-fast installation and configuration.

In a few seconds, the detector is operational on my home automation dashboard.
💬 My feedback
The manufacturing quality is not impressive: plastic a little cheap, basic assembly. I cannot guarantee the actual detection of fire without destructive testing … I will therefore place it next to a detector already in place in the kitchen (the perfect place to test for ‘real’ smoke detection). I will monitor if the sensor reacts as well as the more expensive models.
