Composition of the Sonoff POW R3

Hard side

We take out the magnifying glass and look at what it's made of.

  • The ESP chosen by Sonoff for this equipment is: ESP8266EX

  • The 25Q32 allows it to benefit from 32 Mbit of memory

  • For consumption measurement, it is a CSE7759B which was chosen (as in the latest versions of the PowR2). In the docs, I read everywhere that it is similar to CSE7766.

  • Congratulations to the developers, the flash pins are already welded, magical!!

I would like to take this opportunity to note here the relationship between the terminals of the PowR3 and the FTDI232 to perform the flashing:

  • 3V3 on VCC
  • GND on GND
  • ETX on Rx
  • ERX on Tx

Soft side

  • The classic eWelink is originally integrated into the equipment, it is important to use it to update the device firmware.
  • The DIY mode is unfortunately not foreseen for this equipment, pity, so we'll flash it.
