Automate Hall Light

On this article, I will automate with a presence detector the lights of the hall.

To be very honest, I have been looking for several weeks for a Zigbee Presence Detector, which I wanted to power in 220v (to benefit from the relay function and not have to manage the batteries). I couldn’t find him. It was by talking to David about Easydomotic that he gave me the combination of the Nodon coupled with a Presence Detector / Congratulations!! Magnificent, I have placed a direct order of the pack it has provided for this purpose.

Of course, as I have to do, I say: if you are not a certified electrician, certified with a thousand very expensive papers and authorisations from independent and very expensive bodies, Do not touch electricity, it is dangerous.

Here is the existing basic configuration:

Nothing very complex, a lamp is connected to the neutral and it is the phase that passes through the switch, when the switch closes, the phase is sent to the lamp that lights up.

My goal

I would like to:

  • Delete switch
  • Domotise ignition or extinction for use in Jeedom
  • Being able to control this light by Alexa
  • The light goes out when no one is in the room.

Outline of principle

  • The presence detector therefore replaces the switch. There are presence detectors that can be placed instead of switches, but since I do not have the neutral to switches, I preferred to put it close to the lamp that has the neutral.

Schematic of my installation

  • The switch is short-circuited, the two wires are connected to each other (red wire and purple wire on the drawing)
  • The 3 equipments are close and they are connected according to the diagram.

Materials I used and cost of modification

On this modification, no risk!! , all the chances are put on my side not to sleep on the sofa in case of repeated breakdown, so I take quality products, no chinese on this occasion:

To hide the missing switch, I took:

For cable connections, forget about dominoes (grandfather's sugars), switch to automatic dominoes or Wago (or compatible)

Note that I took the opportunity to change the lights, I took this led pavement, very well, I wanted it in cold white and not too expensive. There's something for every price. This one even with 24W LED, it sends well, beautiful light, delighted 🙂
