This article follows on from the previous article:
I wanted to replace a flashed D1 Mini with ESP Easy and chatting in MQTT with Home Assistant with the new D1 MINI V4, This time, I'm interconnecting it with ESP Home.
To Flash a D1 MINI V4 with ESP Home, you have to
- Necessary equipment:
- A D1 MINI V4
- A good quality micro-USB cable (for data connection, not just power supply)
- A computer with a USB port
- Software required:
- ESPHome installed on a Home Assistant
- according to the doc: A USB-series driver (CH340 for the D1 mini V4) I did not need it.
ESP Home Builder
If it is not already installed, I install the ESPHome Device Builder integration
After installation, I obtain:

or (depending on the versions)

I am adding new equipment

Here I use the wifi which corresponds to the vlan which is not connected to the internet. The equipment will end up in 192.168.4.xxx
But first, I will change ‘cheating’ to affect it on the vlan (via DHCP) of my Home Assistant, because the automatic discovery of ESPHome via mDNS does not work between two VLANs, because the multicast is not usually routed by default between VLANs.
