Objectives

Use a SmartLife compatible home automation switch, establish the link with Jeedom and also control it by Alexa.

Materials

• A Teckin switch, purchased on Amazon.

• A hairdresser light connected to the Output1 of the switch. This equipment will be called Hairdresser
• A power outlet to which a smoothing iron will be connected. This equipment will be called Smoothing iron.

• 2 : The grip of the smoothing iron

Switch link – Smart Life

In the Smart Life mobile app, install the switch

This switch has two switches:

Smart Life link - Amazon Alexa

In the Alexa app, install the skill: Smart Life

Launch the discovery of the devices, this is triggered automatically after the installation of the skill or using: Add a device / Others / Discover devices.

Three pieces of equipment will be detected:

• Switch Hairdresser Iron (can be deactivated)

• Smoothing iron

• Hairdresser

In the Hairdresser settings, go and select that it is a ‘light’.

 

Amazon Alexa – Jeedom link

To establish the link between Alexa and Jeedom, you must use the Alexa-API and Alexa-smartHome plugins.

 

After installing and configuring the plugins, click on a scan in Alexa-API, it allows you to upload the equipment in Jeedom

Automate extinguishing

Jeedom Method

Jeedom will automate the switching off of the power supply to the outlet.

For this, a scenario is used that will cut off the power supply to the smoothing iron, at the latest 10 minutes after its ignition

This scenario is triggered by the ignition of the socket (manually on the switch)

And it turns off the plug 10 minutes later, note that if the hairdresser is turned on, it turns off 1s to signal the extinction of the plug.

SmartLife method

SmartLife also has a scenario function that can automate power outage from the power outlet.

Attention: This scenario will only work if the switch is well connected to wifi and the wifi is well connected to the internet (and therefore to the smartlife server)
